Molynor Implements the 5S Methodology in Gas Treatment Plants

For the purpose of continuing to improve every day, Molynor implemented the 5S methodology in its gas treatment plants. This project has been very important in terms of field work, managing to standardize daily tasks so that the team operates in an optimal environment.

While it took a lot of hard work at first to apply this classification in terms of order and cleanliness, over time it has implied huge savings. With standardization, workers have their tools at hand and are able to better control their inventory.

The implementation of the 5S methodology consisted of the ongoing participation of all collaborators that operate in the gas treatment plants and related service areas. In this regard, Hector Farias, Automated Systems Operator, tells us about how it started. “The implementation of 5S began this past March after major maintenance, and was one of the most important strategic challenges posed by the superintendent. The most significant benefit has been the standardization of daily tasks for all employees in the gas treatment plants.”

Meanwhile, Victor Gonzalez, Gas Treatment Operator, adds that “5S has been applied in the PLG and PAS areas for some time now, showing many improvements and updated data. There are a lot of benefits, which include clean, organized, and standardized plants, with a better visual appearance in machines like pumps and fans, also helping to achieve greater durability over time.”

The improvements have been significant, like cutting down work time spent looking for tools and supplies needed during daily tasks, and it has also helped detect leaks in the pumps and fans in our plants. This has led to pride and satisfaction for meeting our goals, and we are proposing new challenges we want to address in order to continue improving.

“Strong and active team work went into implementing this methodology, including operators, OPSAS, the superintendent, and ongoing support of maintenance staff, who believe in this challenge and are proud of what we have achieved,” concludes Farias.
